Built-in 18" Dishwashers Prices, Reviews and Specifications

Some kitchens have the hook-ups for a built-in dishwasher, but the space available is narrower than the standard 24" width. Compact dishwashers are available at about 18" wide, and vary from basic models to those with all the features of a 24" built-in. Like 24" machines, 18" built-ins either have a standard tub height (with a front access panel below the door) or a tall-tub design (no access panel, for a more stylish appearance and more interior space, but also lowering the height of the open door).

Bosch SPE5ES55UC 18" Built-In Dishwasher
$809-$999
These compact dishwashers by Bosch are ultra-quiet, energy-efficient and loaded with features; at 18" wide they won't hold as much as standard 24" built-ins, but their flexible loading options (three-position adjustable upper rack, fold-down tines) mean they should easily handle the dishwashing needs of a small household. All three have a stainless steel interior; an internal water softener; sanitize and half-load settings; and the ability to delay the start of the wash cycle for up to 24 hours. The differences are minor: the SPE5ES55UC is stainless steel with a silver-painted panel and has visible controls with a recessed handle and a child lock; the SPX5ES55UC is all stainless steel and has a bar handle and hidden controls; and the SPVES53UC is ready to hold a custom panel (to match adjacent cabinets) and has a stainless steel fascia panel and hidden controls. Both models with hidden controls beam indicator lights on the floor when the machine is running. [See Prices, Reviews and Specifications]
