Countertop Dishwashers Prices, Reviews and Specifications

A countertop dishwasher is designed to sit on a kitchen counter under standard-height overhead cabinets, and quickly hooks up to the sink with two hoses (for incoming and draining water). Countertop dishwashers generally offer basic dishwashing cycles without a lot of extras, although a few models may have additional features like an estimated time remaining display or the ability to delay the start of the wash cycle.

Avanti DW6W Countertop Dishwasher
$331-$450
*As of September 2012, Avanti had stopped producing any counterop dishwashers; while the DW6W was still available from several retailers, supplies may be limited.
The Avanti DW6W is a basic countertop unit that should handle the dishwashing needs of one to two people, with about average or slightly better than average noise levels for countertop models. It offers six wash settings -- light, normal, heavy, glass, rapid and pre-wash -- and has automatic detergent and rinse-aid dispensers as well as a removable cutlery/silverware basket. EdgeStar DWP61ES Countertop Dishwasher
$229-$390
The EdgeStar DWP51ES is an energy-efficient countertop dishwasher with a few of the features usually found only on built-in models, such as the ability to delay the start of a wash cycle, a child lock and a time remaining display. That's in addition to its six wash cycle choices -- heavy, normal, light, glass, speed, soak; an internal water heater to boost the temperature on the heavy cycle to 149 degrees Fahrenheit; and a dish rack, cup shelf and silverware basket. The manufacturer estimates this unit's noise levels at about 55 decibels, relatively quiet for a countertop dishwasher and comparable to many modern built-in dishwashers.
