What People Are Saying:

Consumer Reports said the overall performance of the Cuisinart Brew Control DCC-1200 was "very good." Carafe handling was called "excellent." In 2010, the coffee maker was a recommended model by Consumer Reports, but in 2011, it is off the recommended list. ConsumerSearch.com called it the "Best Standard Coffeemaker," noting the carafe is praiseworthy for its spill-free pouring. But consumers who purchased the coffee maker were not overly impressed by the quality or performance. Averaging 2.5 stars (out of five) in 369 reviews on Consumer Reports, many customers noted hazardous situations and performance problems -- several customers said the unit produced smoke that filled the kitchen quickly before catching on fire; other said it stopped brewing after six months of use. Customers on Amazon were overall happier with their purchase, and consumers gave an average of 4 stars (out of 5) in 2,471 reviews.
