The DeLonghi EC155 is a well-rated pump espresso maker. With a dual function filter holder, it is capable of brewing either coffee pods or ground coffee. It is capable of up to 15-bar pump pressure (higher bar numbers mean higher pressure level), so it is capable of producing a frothy crema on top of the shot of espresso. The high pressure also works to power the jet frothing wand for steaming milk for lattes and cappuccinos.

What People Are Saying:

While Consumer Reports was not impressed with the overall performance of the DeLonghi EC155 Pump Espresso Maker, it did note the taste of the coffee it produces is "excellent." Frothing was rated "very good" by Consumer Reports, but convenience earned a mediocre "good." Of the five espresso makers Consumer Reports tested, the EC155 had the lowest rating of 68 (out of 100). But user reviews posted on Consumer Reports were overwhelmingly positive, with the average rating 4.6 starts (out of five). Many users call it a great machine that comes at a great price. ConsumerSearch.com called the EC155 the "Best Budget Espresso Maker" available, citing its great-tasting espresso, affordability and that it accepts both ground coffee and pods. Amazon customers also were predominantly positive about the machine, with more than 600 of 830 reviews rated with four or five stars (out of five). In June 2012, the model was the No. 1 best-selling espresso maker sold on Amazon.com. User reviews noted few complaints, but those mentioned included brittle plastic composition and a coffee cup did not fit under the espresso spouts well.
