The Keurig B40 Elite Brewing System is a pod coffee maker that serves single cups of coffee in either 8oz or 10oz sizes. Like its larger-size cousin, the B60 Special Edition Brewer, the B40 comes with a 48oz. removable water reservoir, which is easy to fill and to clean. With the pod technology, consumers can pop in a K-cup (Keurig-patented pod) and have a cup of coffee brewed in less than a minute (although a few minutes of pre-brewing setup are required). While the K-cups are proprietary, customers are not restricted to Keurig brands. Individual, refillable K-cups are sold for customers to make their own blend of K-cup.

What People Are Saying:

The Keurig B40 Elite Brewing System is a best-selling model at several retailers including Best Buy, Target and Wal-Mart (Nov. 2011). Consumer Reports gave the model a mediocre rating: While noting it was excellent at repeat speed, temperature consistency and the consistency of the coffee over multiple cup sizes, the model only rated fair at brewing range and first cup speed. Most owners who posted reviews praised this coffee maker, though others gave it low marks for reliability. Of the 710 reviews posted on Keurig.com, the average rating was 3.8 stars (out of five). Most consumer reviews noted the convenience and speed of the Elite Brewer in brewing a cup of coffee. Among the users who did not like the model, the common complaint was that it stopped working shortly after purchase. One customer noted going through four machines in less than a year. Despite the problems with the machines, customer reviews noted Keurig's customer service was easy to deal with and shipped out replacement units quickly. On Amazon, the user reviews are also predominantly positive with more than 350 of the 582 reviews rating it five stars (out of five). The general tone of most reviews expressed overall satisfaction with the purchase.
