Consumer Reports rated the taste produced by the Krups XP5240 as "excellent," frothing rated "very good," but convenience earned a mediocre score of "good." In addition, consumers were less than enthusiastic about the model. Users on WholeLatteLove.com, a dedicated coffee blog and store, rated the model 1.7 stars (out of five). Multiple reviewers said the frothing nozzle blew off into the milk when in use. Most users on Amazon were also disparaging of the model. Of the 44 posted reviews, 18 were written with 1-star ratings. Even customers who enjoyed the shot of espresso brewed by the machine found the steaming feature lacking.
