The Bosch Ascenta Series SHX3AR72UC is an energy-efficient dishwasher with a delay start option (three, six or nine hours), a 30-minute express wash setting, a sanitize cycle, fold-down tines for flexibility and a two-position top rack that adjusts up and down. The manufacturer estimates its capacity as 14 place settings, but this machine is only about 22.5" deep compared to the 24"-34" typical depth on other brands, so it holds fewer dishes than many of its competitors and is best for smaller households or those that don't wash a lot of dishes. The SHX3 models come with hidden controls and a stylish bar handle, but Bosch also offers machines with the same features but visible controls and a recessed handle (SHE3AR72UC White; SHE3AR76UC Black; SHE3AR75UC Stainless Steel).

What People Are Saying:

A top seller at several retailers, the Bosch Ascenta SHX3AR75UC was named a 2012 Best Buy (the top ranking) at Consumer Reports, which rated it excellent for washing and energy use, and very good for noise and ease of use, saying it "delivers top performance for a very competitive price." However, online user reviews are mixed, with 33%-100% recommending it, depending on the site. Those who like this machine say it's attractive, super quiet and cleans well, but also note it takes time to get used to loading dishes into the rack design. Those who dislike this machine say the rack design is ineffective and only works with dishes of uniform size and shape, complain about its cleaning ability and report a bad odor if the machine isn't run every day (due to a small amount of water left in the drain hose).
