These compact dishwashers by Bosch are ultra-quiet, energy-efficient and loaded with features; at 18" wide they won't hold as much as standard 24" built-ins, but their flexible loading options (three-position adjustable upper rack, fold-down tines) mean they should easily handle the dishwashing needs of a small household. All three have a stainless steel interior; an internal water softener; sanitize and half-load settings; and the ability to delay the start of the wash cycle for up to 24 hours. The differences are minor: the SPE5ES55UC is stainless steel with a silver-painted panel and has visible controls with a recessed handle and a child lock; the SPX5ES55UC is all stainless steel and has a bar handle and hidden controls; and the SPVES53UC is ready to hold a custom panel (to match adjacent cabinets) and has a stainless steel fascia panel and hidden controls. Both models with hidden controls beam indicator lights on the floor when the machine is running.

What People Are Saying:

There are only a few online user reviews for these Bosch dishwashers, but those that CostHelper found were positive, saying these machines clean dishes well and describing them as sturdy, well-made and unusually quiet with a satisfying number of cleaning and loading options. The only criticisms were the price and that the installation instructions were vague. For Bosch products in general, a user survey by Consumer Reports found it to have one of the lowest repair rates, with 8% reporting repairs and serious problems compared to a range of 8%-21% for about 12 other brands.
