The LG WM2250CW is an energy-efficient and relatively large-capacity, front-load washer that should handle the laundry needs of a typical household, although extra-large items like a king-size comforter might still mean a trip to the Lanudromat. It doesn't have quite as many bells and whistles as some more expensive models, but it does have a spin speed of up to 1,200 rpm, which will leave clothes dry enough to cut the amount of time needed in the dryer; magnet ventilation to keep the door ajar to dry out the interior after each load; a sensor system that sets water levels based on the load size; and the ability to delay the start of a wash cycle for up to 19 hours.

What People Are Saying:

The LG WM2205CW washer is ranked as a 2012 Best Buy (the highest level) at Consumer Reports, which rates it excellent for washing performance, energy efficiency, water efficiency, capacity and gentleness and very good for vibration, but only good (a somewhat mediocre ranking) for noise, saying it has "excellent performance overall" but it is "relatively noisy." Consumer Reports also notes that the cycle time of 95 minutes is longer than many front-loaders. User reviews are primarily positive, with most giving this machine high marks. They typically recommend it, saying it cleans well, is easy to use and has all the features they need -- although a few report vibration problems. A few user reviews don't recommend this machine; they report ongoing problems with leaking, noise levels and vibration, and complain that it doesn't clean clothes properly.
